Visiting the fam in Springfield

My mom and I headed to Springfield Friday afternoon for a weekend with my brother, sister-in-law and nephews! We had a great, relaxing weekend doing absolutely nothing but spending time together! Tristan and Heath are both getting so big and are lots of fun to play with. They of course both love Aunt Nikki or Aunt Nitni as Tristan says! Heath's baby dedication at church was Sunday and the minister referred to him as a future middle line backer (see pic below to understand why). He is a chunky monkey (7 months old) but absolutely adorable and the sweetest baby I have ever been around!

Tristan's favorite saying of the weekend "Will you play something else with me?" I am pretty sure we played every single game he owns! It was fun though! I love getting to spend time with them and wish they lived closer!! I can't believe I won't be able to see them for an entire year )  :

My first Blog

So... I read a few of my friends blogs and since I am leaving for deployment in January I thought this would be an easy way for my friends and family to know what is going on in my life!

I hope to stay on top of this blog and give my friends and family an idea of what type of training I am going through and what is going on in my mind and life prior to and throughout my first deployment! Hopefully it will not be dreadfully boring for anyone!

Here is what is going on in my life now....

My 30th birthday is coming up...I can't believe I am about to be the big 3-0... August 13 will be a fun 30th birthday party though...friends and family going to the Sugarland concert! On the 14th however... I leave for 3 more weeks of army training! I will have to be at my unit at 0600...definitely a little hungover...thank God it will only be a travel day and no strenuous activity required!
